About Us

We are Craig and Amy. It’s nice to meet you! Thanks for taking a minute to get to know us..

We started this blog in January 2012 as a way to spread the word that we were adopting and with hopes that this blog would help us network and possibly help us find a match on our own.  This was the recommendation to us by our adoption agency as they had a very long wait list to get into their profile book which is shown to birth parents (we were number 32 on the wait list to get into the profile book when our home study was approved). For more on why we were doing our own networking, read this post.

We never made it into the profile book at our agency, and we did not end up finding a match on our own.  In May 2012 we ended up getting an unexpected email from our agency about a baby boy due in August.  We were shocked, hurried to make our profile, and by the first week of June we had a match meeting with our future son’s birth parents.  For more on how we were matched, read this post.

Our son, Wesley was born in August 2012 and we have been loving every minute of being parents to the cutest, sweetest, funniest little boy on earth (we know we are biased, but we tell each other almost everyday how blessed we are to have such an awesome child).  Open adoption has blessed our lives more than we ever could have imagined.

We met the second week of our freshman year of college at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California and quickly became best friends. Amy was soon head-over-heals for Craig and patiently waited until the end of freshman year for him to finally admit that he liked her! Check out Part 1 of the Story of Us to learn more about how we met and first started dating.

Craig proposed to Amy up on the roof of a building on our college campus on our one year anniversary.

After a couple of years of living in Southern California, we moved to Craig’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We bought our first house with a big backyard…and then we bought a lawn mower!

Soon after moving to Minnesota our first baby, Lucy, joined our family.

A couple years later we decided that Lucy needed a little sister, so Craig surprised Amy and Lucy and brought Shelly home!

Lucy and Shelly are best friends…who also think they are much smaller than they really are!

The four of us (Craig, Amy, Lucy & Shelly) had been ready for a baby to join our family for quite some time. However, our journey to parenthood didn’t happened as easily or quickly as we had hoped.  After a three year journey through infertility, we decided to start a new chapter in our lives and grow our family through adoption.  On Valentine’s day 2012 we were home study approved to adopt!

In June 2012 we were matched with our son’s birthparents and in August 2012 we welcomed him home!
